The Coquille Tribe of Oregon’s Head Start program has received a perfect review for the second time during two triennial reviews.

Coquille is located in Coos Bay, OR, which is about 240 miles south of Portland right on the Pacific Coast. The program is funded for 20 children, has a classroom staff of 1 full-time and 2 part-time teachers, a half-time cook and a part-time executive secretary.

Jane Metcalf, Head Start director, attributes their successful review to the wonderful working relationship the program has with the Tribal Council, the parents, the support and services provided by IHS and a wonderful staff. She feels that the entire community supports and stands behind the Head Start program.

Congratulations to Coquille who joins 4 other AIAN programs who are also in full compliance.
